FAFSA Information
After getting your FSA ID, the next step is to complete your FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid).
Completing the FAFSA is the only way to apply for federal student aid. The schools you list on your application will use the FAFSA information to evaluate your financial need and determine how much federal aid you are eligible to receive. Tennessee also uses the FAFSA for the Hope and TN Promise scholarships.

A common question from students is who is my parent when I fill out my FAFSA. Click here for details.
Another common question from students is do I have to provide my parents' information on the FAFSA.

Some important changes were made to the FAFSA process in 2017-18 that continue for 2020-21 applications. FAFSA applications are submitted earlier. Students will be able to submit a 2020-21 FAFSA as early as October 1, 2019.
Another change is using earlier income and tax information. Students (and parents) will report 2018 income and tax information for the 2020-21 FAFSA.
